As the year draws to a close, Kara’s Head of Foodservice Mark Warren has had some time to reflect on a year of challenges and successes in the foodservice sector and how Kara plans to tackle 2024 to keep delivering the highest quality product and service in the foodservice sector:
As we approach the end of 2023, I’d like to recognise another challenging year experienced in our foodservice industry.
It feels like normality has been left firmly in 2019 as our industry continues to battle against a very challenging economic outlook.
Inflation, although it is beginning to slow, is still having a great impact on all our businesses and not only this, we’ve also experienced challenges around supply. However, as we exit the year, we’re seeing an improved stock holding position and our future capacity outlook has significantly improved. As we head into the new year we’ll continue to improve our supply record.
Key to our business is forecast accuracy. Forecasts enable us to better understand our customers’ true demand and thus allow us to meet the needs of our consumer base. Direct forecasts partnered with all forms of sales out data, which many of our business partners are investing in, have proved to be invaluable to our business this year.
We have also seen relatively normal sales demand this year which has given us insight into seasonality post covid.
All of these components have allowed us to improve this year and we look forward to enhanced forecasting in the future leading to effective planning for success for 2024.
As we head into the new year, our mission is to improve the bakery offering across the whole of the foodservice sector.
Our mission is to focus on expansive product offerings combined with exceptional customer service to elevate the standards for both wholesalers and caterers.
In 2024, Kara Foodservice, the frozen bakery brand of the Finsbury Food Group will carry on collaborating closely with our customers and will continue to be the frozen bakery supplier of choice for foodservice.
On a personal note, I’d like to thank all our customers for their collaboration in 2023 and look forward to delivering service excellence and growth with our partners for 2024.
