Process
Take a Kara Dough Ball and roll it out into a rectangular shape.
Take your filling (for inspiration, take a look at our ideas below) and spread along the length of the dough and roll into a sausage shape (like a swiss roll).
Form into a ring, sprinkle with cheese and bake in a pizza oven for around 15 minutes, or until golden.
Once cooked, fill the centre of the ring with rocket, salads, salsa etc.
Top tip: There are so many options for fillings. You can embrace local flavours, use influence from international cuisines or just keep it simple. Here are a few of our favourites:
A nod to the Mediterranean: Chorizo, olives, feta cheese & onion.
The Divisive One: Ham, pineapple & mozzarella.
Carb it up: Sliced potato, rosemary, brie & black pepper.
Healthy Veggie: Kale, chilli, yellow peppers, pine nuts & ricotta.
Breakfast: Pancetta, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, and a runny fried egg in the centre!
Go vegan: Mixed peppers, olives, onions and selected mushrooms.
Storage & handling
Kara’s Doughballs should be stored frozen at -18°C or below. Once defrosted, do not refreeze.
To defrost
Take the required amount of dough balls from the freezer and place 2″ (5cm) apart on a baking tray. To avoid the doughball skinning, cover with a lightly greased film and place in the refrigerator overnight.
Once defrosted, store in the fridge (5°C) and consume within two days.
