Halloween Fruity Toast

Let’s take this classic breakfast dish of French Toast with cinnamon and give it a seasonal Halloween revamp.

15 Mins

1

Ingredients

4 slices of Kara’s  White Bloomer

3 eggs

100ml milk

300ml double cream

½ tsp cinnamon

1tsp vanilla extract

2tbsp butter

250g jam of your choice (we used blueberry)

Icing sugar to decorate

2 small currants or chocolate nibs

Process

For the toast:

Whisk together the eggs, milk and 80ml of cream into a shallow bowl and sprinkle in the cinnamon and add the vanilla extract.

Place the slices of Kara’s thick white bloomer into the mixture and all them to soak for 2 minutes on each side of the bread.

Heat the butter in a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat until melted and foaming. Place the well-coated bloomer bread into the frying pan and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side. Once golden brown and crisp, remove from the pan.

Once removed from the pan, top one side of a slice of bloomer with a generous amount of jam of your choosing and top with another slice of bloomer bread. Continue this until the bloomers are stacked.

Drizzle over the remaining jam over the top of the bloomers before dusting with icing sugar.

For the ghostly top (optional)

Whisk the remaining double cream in a separate dish, once it reaches a stiff peak, it is ready for decorating.

Place in a piping bag and create your desired ghost shape, add currants or chocolate nibs for eyes

Top tip: we recommend creating your ghost figure on a separate plate and then using a pallet knife to place it on top of the toast.
